Quick answer

Start with a simple Hydro + Pyro Vaporize test. Apply Hydro to an enemy, then hit with Pyro while the Hydro icon is present. If “Vaporize” appears, the Pyro hit triggered the reaction. This is a practice example, not a promise that every hit in a real rotation reacts.

If you own Barbara and Amber, try Barbara’s normal Hydro hit, then Amber’s fully charged aimed arrow while Hydro remains; an uncharged arrow does not provide the same Pyro hit. Test on an enemy without an inherent elemental aura. (source、source)

Try it in the open world

  1. Choose a non-immune enemy that is not standing in water or another elemental hazard. Take a Hydro character and a Pyro character you actually own; add a healer or shielder if you need safety.
  2. Apply Hydro and look for the Hydro symbol above the enemy's health bar. Switch to the Pyro character and use an elemental hit while that symbol remains.
  3. Look for the Vaporize text. If it doesn't appear, the first element may have expired, been consumed, or the attack may not have applied the expected element. Reset the test and use a clear single hit.
  4. Repeat with Pyro first and Hydro second. The order changes which hit triggers Vaporize; KQM notes the base multiplier differs by triggering element, but actual damage also depends on stats and conditions.

Turn the test into a team

Role What to look for
Element provider Can apply an element consistently enough for your plan.
Reaction trigger / damage Can apply the other element and deal damage while the first is present.
Sustain Healing or shielding so you can finish the rotation.
Flexible slot Energy, additional damage or control that supports the team you own.

These roles can overlap. Test a short sequence with your own characters, then add one step at a time. Watch whether abilities are ready again: energy needs and elemental application timing can matter more than adding another damage dealer. The triggering character's Elemental Mastery influences reaction strength, but it is not the only stat that matters for their overall build.
