Understand emblem sets, talents and spell unlocks, then choose a practical starting point by role.
For a first match, start with an emblem that supports your role and a battle spell you understand how to use. A jungler normally needs Retribution for jungle objectives; a marksman who needs an escape can start by considering Flicker when available. A hero's specific kit and the enemy lineup may call for a different choice.
What is the difference?
An emblem set supplies attributes; its selected talents add effects. A battle spell is a separate ability chosen before the match and used through its own button. They are not the same as items bought during a match. In the current emblem system, talents are arranged in tiers; inspect the choices and their unlock requirements in your own interface.
Choose a practical starting point
| Role | Start by checking | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Jungle | Assassin emblem and Retribution | Offensive junglers can use its attributes; Retribution helps contest jungle monsters. A tank jungler may prefer different attributes. |
| Gold lane marksman | Marksman emblem and Flicker | Attack-focused attributes support basic attacks; Flicker gives a repositioning option. |
| Mid mage | Mage emblem and Flicker | The emblem supports magic-oriented play; the spell can help reposition. |
| EXP lane fighter | Fighter emblem; consider Flicker | Start with fighter-oriented attributes and a movement option, then adapt to your hero. |
| Roam tank or support | Tank or Support emblem; consider Flicker | Pick durability or team support for your job; mobility can help positioning. |
These are starting points, not a single best build. For example, Layla is a ranged marksman who can use an escape, while Tigreal may use mobility to enter or protect teammates. Read the current spell description and practise its range: Flicker cannot compensate for being isolated or guarantee an escape.
Set it before the match
- Open the hero's preparation or battle setup screen and find the emblem and battle spell options. Interface wording may vary by language and version.
- Pick an available emblem for your intended role, inspect the available talent tiers and select effects you understand. If a talent is locked, open its description to see the requirement; use an available alternative in the meantime.
- Choose an unlocked spell, read its effect and cooldown, then confirm the setup before entering. Battle spell availability depends on account progression; the client shows what your account has unlocked.
- In training, find the spell button and try it once in a safe area. For Retribution, practise identifying the target and the displayed damage; for Flicker, test short movements without crossing into danger.
Unlock conditions and balance can change. If the exact requirement is not shown in your client, do not spend resources based on an old level chart; use the unlocked setup and revisit it when more options appear.
