Quick answer

First play a short offline match, then compare it with an online match. If both stutter, investigate your device and display; if the problem appears mainly online, examine the connection too. This comparison is a starting clue, not proof of a single cause.

Run the same test twice

Use the same controller, display, camera and similar match conditions. Note whether the problem is delayed button response, visible frame stutter or players jumping around online. Restart the game and repeat; changing many settings at once makes it hard to see what helped.

PC: check the local game first

  1. Compare your hardware to the official requirements and close unnecessary background applications.
  2. Lower an in-game graphics setting or resolution, test the same scene and compare. Restore it if nothing improves; keep a note of the original setting.
  3. Check your graphics driver and power settings. EA notes that frame-time spikes or slow gameplay can occur even when average FPS looks normal.
  4. If the issue persists, EA suggests checking memory configuration against your PC or motherboard documentation. Hardware changes depend on your system and are not a guaranteed fix.

Console or PC: check display and controller

Try the display’s Game Mode if available, and compare the controller with a wired connection where supported. Test another input or display if practical. A television’s picture processing or a controller connection can add delay, but this does not explain every kind of stutter.

Online only: inspect the connection

EA’s Connection Quality Report considers ping, packet loss and jitter. Check recent match history, compare a wired network connection if possible and pause large downloads on the same network. If Wi-Fi is necessary, test placement or a suitable available band. Restart the game or router for a new comparison, following the router’s instructions.

Connection problems can also occur outside your home network; an Ethernet cable is not a guarantee of a smooth match. Record the mode, time, platform and symptoms, then contact EA Help if the problem persists.
