Quick answer

Once the bomb is planted, kills alone do not secure the round for CT. The attacker's job is to protect the bomb; the defender must finish a defuse in time.

Plant with a plan

As T, clear the closest threat and tell teammates where you will plant. Choose a legal plant area that someone can watch from cover. The planter is vulnerable, so have a teammate cover an entrance. After planting, spread out enough to watch different approaches rather than all standing on the bomb. Tell teammates if you cannot see it.

Retake and defuse

As CT, check who has a kit, group if time allows, and use a flash or smoke to help cross an exposed entrance. Clear likely positions together; one player defuses while another covers when possible. Start holding the use key at the bomb and keep holding until it completes. Interrupting the defuse costs time.

In standard competitive settings, a planted bomb has roughly 40 seconds; a defuse takes 5 seconds with a kit or 10 without. Do not wait for the last instant: movement, enemies and input delay eat the margin. Custom server rules can differ.

For example on Mirage A, if the bomb is visible from Ramp, a T can watch it from cover there while a teammate watches another approach. CTs arriving from Ticket and Connector should announce their routes, coordinate utility and leave enough time to reach the bomb.
