Quick answer

Divide fire duty, nearby gathering and exploration without requiring a fixed class lineup.

Start by covering the fire and camp, nearby gathering, and exploration. You don't need a particular class on every player. With fewer people, combine jobs; before anyone travels far, agree when to come back.

Decide who watches the fire

One teammate can bring nearby logs to the campfire, watch its fuel bar and leave a small reserve by the fire. Others can gather food, find scrap or check nearby locations, then put supplies in an agreed place. The fire needs more fuel over time; if everyone leaves at once, even good loot may not make up for returning too late to feed it.

Players A simple opening What to watch
Two One handles the fire and nearby wood; the other gets food, scrap and explores a short distance The explorer returns when their bag fills or the light fades; swap jobs after regrouping
Three or more One watches the fire, one gathers nearby and others explore as supplies allow Share destinations and return timing; don't take all the fuel away with the explorers

This is a coordination starting point, not an order for one person to stand still all game. Once camp has fuel and the team knows when to return, rotate into exploration; send someone back when the fire runs low.

Agree on three things before leaving

  1. Where? Share the destination or a direction teammates can recognize, and remember the route home.
  2. When back? Return when a bag is filling, darkness approaches or camp reports low fuel. Don't wait until the last moment to decide.
  3. How to ask for help? Use your team's chat or voice to give your location and situation. First make sure everyone can see or hear that channel.

If enemies are too strong, health is low or the route back is unclear, retreat toward a known safe direction and tell your teammates. Before rescuing a missing child, check weapons, food and the return route; don't pull the fire watcher away for a rescue while leaving camp without fuel.

Fire is not protection from everything

The campfire holds back the Deer and some other threats, but cultists can enter camp and attacked animals can retaliate. Whoever stays at camp should watch the surroundings; regrouping by the fire doesn't mean every fight is over.
