Quick answer

Do not buy the same item every match. After a death, check the damage recap and identify the disable or burst that stopped you; then choose an item you can activate at the right time.

Three different jobs

Black King Bar: consider it when repeated disables prevent your core from fighting. Activate before the dangerous control lands. It grants debuff immunity and protection against magic, but some effects pierce it and physical attacks still hurt. It is not a universal invulnerability button.

Glimmer Cape: a support can use it on an ally or themselves against magical burst, granting invisibility and a magic barrier. Enemies with detection can still reveal the target; the barrier does not solve physical burst.

Force Staff: reposition yourself or an ally away from danger or into a safer angle. Check the target’s facing direction before pushing; a bad push can make the situation worse. It does not automatically remove every disable.

When to use them

Put the active on a key you can reach, keep enough mana and use it before you are unable to act. If you died while disabled, a teammate may need to save you instead. Compare the enemy lineup and your role before spending: a support saving allies and a core needing uninterrupted attacks may need different tools.

Item details change with patches; check the current in-game tooltip and whether the threatening spell pierces debuff immunity.
