Quick answer

At Town Hall 4–6, look for reachable collectors and a useful loot amount, attack with troops you have unlocked, then spend what you earn on a planned upgrade. You do not need to clear every base: take the buildings that hold the resource you need, while weighing loot against the stars you can reasonably earn.

You do not need to clear every base: take the buildings that hold the resource you need, while weighing loot against the stars you can reasonably earn.

Pick your goal before searching

Check the cost of your next upgrade and how much storage space remains. Need Gold for a building? Prioritize targets with accessible Gold Mines or storages. Need Elixir for an army-related upgrade? Look for Elixir Collectors and storages. The loot displayed in the search screen is an amount available, not a guaranteed payout.

Collectors hold resources their owner has not collected; storages hold collected resources. The Town Hall and Clan Castle also contain some loot, but they must be destroyed to claim it. Lower-level opponent Town Halls can yield less available loot, so dropping trophies is not automatically a good farming strategy.

Scout the approach

  1. Compare available Gold and Elixir with the defenses covering the outer buildings. Skip a base if the resource is deep behind defenses your army cannot handle.
  2. Choose a side where several useful collectors can be reached without crossing the whole village. Check nearby defensive range and gaps between buildings.
  3. Use a small group of your unlocked troops to test the first side, then deploy the rest as the route becomes clear. If a wall or defense stalls them, do not keep sending everything into the same spot.
  4. Watch the battle result and note whether troops reached the resource buildings. Adjust the approach or composition next time; no single mix guarantees a win.

Exact troop availability and camp capacity depend on your buildings and level. Use the in-game army screen as the source of truth rather than copying an old fixed composition.

Repeat, then spend

In the current Home Village system, troops and spells no longer require training time; choose or refill an available army and attack again. Older guides that tell you to wait for troop training are outdated. Check your game screen for current costs and unlocks rather than assuming the same values at every Town Hall.

If the Star Bonus is available, stars from eligible battles also build progress; the bonus goes to the Clan Castle Treasury. Before collecting or attacking repeatedly, check storage capacity and start the upgrade you planned. Legend League has separate conditions and is outside this low-level routine.

Home Village troop and spell training costs no Gold, Elixir or Dark Elixir; donations have separate costs.
