Quick answer

Margit's raised staff is a trap for early rolls: watch the weapon come down before dodging, then use a short opening to attack once or twice. If the fight is overwhelming, leave Stormveil for a while, upgrade a weapon and return. There is no level that guarantees a win.

Before the fog

  • Rest at Castleward Tunnel and allocate health and FP flasks for your build. Spend accumulated runes before repeated attempts if you can.
  • The gold sign outside the fog can summon Sorcerer Rogier. If you have a Spirit Calling Bell and suitable ashes, you can also use an eligible spirit summon during the fight; normal player co-op has different summon rules.
  • Optional: Patches sells Margit's Shackle in Murkwater Cave if you progress his encounter. It can briefly bind Margit up to twice in the first phase. Use it when close enough to take advantage, not while a swing is already hitting you.

For the optional shackle, stop attacking when Patches surrenders in Murkwater Cave. Speak to him, rest or reload the area and return to his shop; the community wiki lists Margit’s Shackle for 5,000 Runes. (source、source)

What you see Response
Staff raised and held Wait for the actual downward movement, dodge, and keep stamina for a follow-up.
A string of swings or a quick golden dagger Stay defensive until the sequence ends; don't assume the first miss is your turn.
Later, a golden hammer and jumping slam Dodge the slam, watch for a follow-up, then take one short attack or heal if there is space.

Keep away from the arena edge. A shield can absorb a mistake, but blocking drains stamina; lower it between attacks to recover. When a summon holds attention, Margit can turn suddenly, so avoid long commitments.

Melee and ranged approaches

With melee, stay close enough to reach him after a committed attack, hit once or twice, then reset. With spells or a bow, make space after his sequence and use short casts or shots; he can throw golden daggers at range. Heal after creating distance, not while he is closing in.

After a loss, ask what hit you: early roll, empty stamina or a greedy second attack? Change that one habit on the next attempt. If damage remains too low, explore Limgrave and reinforce your weapon before returning.
