Start with a repeatable scene and change one video setting at a time. A lower setting that improves the frame rate but makes the image too unclear to play is not automatically the best choice. Aim for a balance you can hold during the encounters you actually play.

This guide is for the PC release of Crimson Desert, not Black Desert. Menu options and hardware support can change with updates; check the current in-game descriptions and official known issues before applying an old fix.
Record a baseline
- In the game's video settings, note your display resolution, display mode, quality preset, upscaling and frame-generation settings. Also note your graphics card, driver and game version.
- Pick a safe, repeatable outdoor route with a fixed view and movement. Save where appropriate. Walk it once to warm up, then repeat it and note how the motion looks, whether it hitches and the displayed frame rate if you have a trusted counter.
- Keep the same route, resolution and background programs for comparisons. Weather, enemies and streaming can vary, so a short route is a practical comparison, not a controlled benchmark.
Adjust the biggest trade-offs first
If the baseline is consistently slow, lower the overall quality preset one step and repeat the route. If that helps, restore or adjust individual options one at a time until you find a picture you like. If the image remains slow, compare a lower rendering resolution or the available upscaling options. Read the option descriptions and inspect fine detail and motion as well as the frame-rate number.
If frame generation is available for your hardware, compare it on and off at the same baseline. A higher displayed frame rate does not by itself establish lower input delay; use the same movement and combat situation to judge how controls feel. Do not assume an option available on one GPU appears on another.
If the image breaks or settings do not persist
Return to the last working configuration, then check the official known-issues page for your hardware and driver. Pearl Abyss has documented hardware-specific issues involving upscaling or frame generation; whether a particular item still applies depends on the current notice and your version. Avoid changing several unrelated settings at once.
The official 1.00.03 notes documented fixes for resolution and upscaling settings not being retained. If your current installation still loses changes, record the game version, exact options and reproduction steps rather than assuming that historical fix applies to your case.
After choosing settings on the test route, check one representative fight or busy area. If a new hitch appears there, note the location and effect, then repeat a single-setting comparison. Keep your final settings as the starting point for future updates.
