A regular Clan War gives each selected player two attacks on different enemy bases. Agree on your first target early, then use the second attack to cover a base the clan still needs. Clan War Leagues use different rules: a player in the day’s lineup has one attack, so this plan is for regular wars.

Before preparation ends
Check the war map to make sure you are actually in the lineup; opting in alone does not guarantee selection. Update your war base, not just your home layout. Once battle day begins, further changes to that base and its building levels no longer count for that war.
Ask for defensive Clan Castle troops on the war base. These are separate from the reinforcements you request for your attacking army: donating defenders does not fill your attack slot.
Scout a base you can reach
Agree on a target with your clan. Look at the Town Hall, air defenses and the strongest defensive cluster. Choose an entry side that lets your usual army reach its intended target without circling the outside. Note where your spells will cover defenses and where your troops might split. If your plan depends on a hero or a donated troop, check that it is available before attacking.
For a first attempt, choose a base close to your own strength instead of jumping at the highest Town Hall. If another teammate has already attacked it, watch the replay: it can show defensive reinforcements or traps that change your route. Replays do not remove the need to check the base yourself.
When choosing a cleanup target, check its existing result: the clan counts only the best attack on each enemy base. A repeat must improve that result to help the clan; stars from separate attacks are not added together.
Use the second attack to fill a gap
After your first attack, tell the clan what happened, especially if troops walked around the edge or a key defense survived. Look at the war map and coordinate a different base: a teammate may need help improving an earlier result, or an untouched base may be more useful. Check the army selection for your next attack; troops and spells are now available instantly. Request attack reinforcements again if needed.
If your clan assigns targets, follow its plan rather than spending the second attack immediately. Review the replay and change the entry side or spell timing before the next war.
