Quick answer

Make room for key items without discarding your emergency healing or the ammunition for your current weapon.

Before leaving a safe area, keep your current weapon, its ammunition, some healing and space for the next key item. Store surplus instead of discarding it when a suitable box is available. If your bag is already full at a pickup, first see what can safely be left behind and whether you can return for it.

This guide covers the base Resident Evil Requiem on PC and PS5. Grace and Leon manage supplies differently; equipment and box access change with progress and mode. The recommended balance is a starting point, not a fixed number of slots for every encounter.

Pack for the next objective

  1. Check the map and your current objective. Bring a key or tool you know is needed on the route; do not assume an unfamiliar item can be discarded safely.
  2. Keep a weapon you can use and ammunition that matches it. Check the actual weapon before leaving spare rounds behind.
  3. Keep a healing item for an unexpected hit, especially if the next route contains enemies.
  4. Leave at least some room when practical for a newly discovered key, puzzle object or useful supply. If space is tight, store duplicate or currently unnecessary supplies before giving up the only healing or the ammunition for your carried weapon.

How much spare space you need depends on the route. If you already know a particular object must be collected, clear enough space for it before leaving; don't assume one empty slot solves every case.

Grace: use an item box when available

Grace can store items in an item box. At a box, select surplus equipment or supplies and move them into storage using the interface prompt. Verify the item is in the box before leaving. Keep the items needed for the immediate objective in her carried inventory and remember where the box is for retrieval.

If an item in the field cannot be picked up because the inventory is full, decide whether the route back to a box is safe and available. Store something nonessential, return and collect it when possible. Do not assume a box is reachable during every chase or one-way sequence.

Leon: check the supply box separately

Leon has a supply box used for purchases, sales and upgrades; it is not a reason to assume Grace's item-box functions work identically for him. At a supply box, inspect the current options and consider whether a case expansion, ammunition or healing solves the most immediate problem. Before selling anything, check what you will still carry and whether you need that item on the next route.

Combine only when it helps

The official crafting manual lists combinations of two or three green herbs. Combining may be useful when you want the resulting healing item, but don't combine purely because you think it must free space: first check the actual ingredients, result and your immediate healing needs. Character-specific recipes differ, and Grace's blood collector must be acquired before its related options can be used.

After reorganizing, confirm the carried weapon, usable ammunition and healing, then leave for the objective with the free space you planned. If the next area changes the risk or available equipment, adjust at the next safe opportunity.
