Decide between healing, handgun ammunition and a makeshift knife without spending every scrap immediately.
For Grace, keep enough healing to survive the next encounter, then make ammunition when your handgun supply is running low. Scrap appears in several recipes, so check your immediate need before turning all of it into one item. A makeshift knife is an option when you need a melee weapon; it competes for the same scrap.
This guide uses the official PS5 manual's recipe examples for Resident Evil Requiem. Available recipes and resources depend on your progress and mode; inspect Grace's current crafting menu before spending materials.
Open the crafting list
Open the items menu and choose Combine, or switch to the Crafting tab. Select an available item and hold the button shown on screen to make it. The list lets you check the required ingredients before committing; an example recipe in the manual does not mean every ingredient or feature is available at the start.
Choose by the problem in front of you
| Your immediate problem | Practical first choice |
|---|---|
| Health is low and you have green herbs | Combine herbs for a healing item, or keep an herb ready if that is what you need now. |
| Handgun ammunition is running low | After Grace obtains the blood collector, consider its handgun-ammo recipe if you have the ingredients. |
| You need a melee option | Consider a makeshift knife, but remember that its two scrap could otherwise go toward other recipes. |
| You are low on everything | Leave materials unspent until you know which shortage is blocking your next move. |
Two green herbs make a mixed herb; three green herbs make another mixed-herb recipe. The official examples also list two scrap for a makeshift knife. The right choice depends on your inventory: there is no universal amount of scrap to reserve for every encounter.
Once you have the blood collector
Grace alone can obtain and use the blood collector to craft with collected blood. Two example recipes are:
- Handgun ammo: one scrap plus 40 infected blood microsamples.
- Hemolytic injector: one scrap plus 60 infected blood microsamples.
The injector costs more blood in these examples. If you are short on handgun ammunition, consider that immediate need before spending those samples on a special item. The manual lists an ink ribbon recipe requiring an ink ribbon tin and 40 samples; crafting ink ribbons is available in Standard (Classic) mode and above, so check the mode before planning around it.
Why can't I craft it?
First confirm you are controlling Grace, have obtained the relevant equipment and have the exact ingredients shown in your menu. If a recipe or option is unavailable, check progress and mode instead of assuming the materials are defective. Leon has separate recipes and cannot use blood for crafting.
After crafting, check the resulting item and what remains in your inventory. Carry the item you need for the next section and keep unused materials available for the next decision.
