Quick answer

Omega Red is the first major boss. The reliable starting plan is to parry the attacks the game allows, dodge red-highlighted power attacks, then attack when he staggers. Do not chase a long combo while his tentacles are still protecting him. The encounter has multiple phases; the later part becomes more aggressive, so keep watching for the next cue after each hit.

Before attacking: know the cues

What you see Response
A parryable tentacle strike Time a parry as the hit arrives; successful parries build the boss’s stagger meter.
A red-highlighted power attack Dodge rather than relying on a normal parry. A sideways dodge helps avoid a straight-reaching attack.
Tentacles shielding Omega Red Wait for an opening; if you have Knee Breaker and it is available, it can help interrupt or break through.
The stagger meter fills and he reels Close the distance and use a short damaging combo, then prepare to defend again.

Opening phase: learn the rhythm

In the initial indoor fight, watch the tentacle sequence rather than attacking continuously. Parry the strikes you can, then watch for a red power attack at the end of a sequence and dodge it. A successful parry contributes to stagger; once he is staggered, approach and attack during the opening.

If he creates distance and throws debris, avoid the incoming objects instead of standing still. When the phase changes, do not assume the fight is over: watch the cutscene and be ready for the next area.

Later phases: protect your escape route

Outside, Omega Red becomes faster and adds long-reaching attacks. When he flashes red and sends a tentacle straight toward you, dodge sideways rather than repeatedly retreating along its path. If he catches you, follow the displayed prompt to break free; the published walkthrough reports that he can recover health during the grab.

In the final stretch, red attacks become more frequent. Move between attacks, take a short opening and return to defence. Use an available Technique when it creates a safe interruption, but do not depend on it being charged every time. When the final health bar is depleted, follow the on-screen finishing prompts.

If you keep losing

Identify whether the failure was a missed parry, a red attack you tried to parry, or staying too close for too long. On the next attempt, practise that one response first. If the timing remains uncomfortable, review the game’s difficulty and accessibility options; PlayStation lists adjustable difficulty and simplified quick-time events.
