Build Rage by fighting aggressively, but do not trade away all your health to fill the meter. From Rage Tier 2, losing all health can activate Last Stand, giving Logan a chance to recover. When the prompt appears, follow the on-screen input; the recovery consumes Rage, so it is a resource to manage, not an unlimited revival.

Read the three Rage tiers
| State | What it means for your next move |
|---|---|
| Building Rage | Use controlled attacks and stay aware of incoming threats; safe pressure is better than being surrounded. |
| Tier 2 | Logan’s moves become stronger and Last Stand can become available if health is depleted. |
| Tier 3 | Damage increases further and Critical Strikes become available. Look for the game’s contextual prompt rather than assuming every enemy is immediately vulnerable. |
PlayStation describes successful combinations as building Rage. Watch the meter below the health display while practising, and compare how it changes as you attack. Do not count on Last Stand before the game shows you have reached the required state.
What to do when Last Stand appears
- Health reaches zero while the feature’s conditions are met: watch for the Last Stand prompt rather than assuming the fight is over.
- Follow the displayed input promptly. The published hands-on account describes repeated presses during recovery; use the instruction shown in your version, especially if you changed accessibility settings.
- Once Logan is back on his feet, move or defend before starting a long combo. Check health, remaining Rage and enemy positions: the attacker who downed you may still be close.
- If the prompt never appears, check your Rage state and the current encounter. Some story encounters use ability inhibitors that block healing. Do not assume Last Stand will bypass an active inhibitor.
Keep Rage useful in crowded fights
Start with enemies attacking from range or leaders marked red to reduce incoming pressure. Parry or dodge, attack during the opening, then check the screen again. At Tier 3, take contextual critical-strike opportunities when they are available, but keep an escape route rather than chasing a target through the whole group.
If you repeatedly fall before reaching Tier 2, focus on the attack that hits you most often. Practise avoiding or parrying it, then build Rage during the resulting opening. A safe sequence you can repeat is more valuable than a single risky rush.
