Quick answer

Start with the team you have, complete the introductory Objectives and upgrade one weak position at a time. Keep some coins available for a needed player rather than spending the entire balance immediately. Rewards and objectives change, so check the current in-game screen before committing resources.

First: unlock the basics

Open Ultimate Team → Objectives. EA says new players unlock the Transfer Market and Champions through the Objective groups The Journey Begins → First Team Dreams → Rising Through the Ranks. Eligible returning players may already have access. Finish the displayed requirements in order; this is separate from Companion App access.

Choose a formation your existing players can fill and play a few matches before deciding which position causes problems. If online opponents are too difficult, Squad Battles offers matches against AI-controlled squads. Weekly competition matches count for Battle Points; later matches still earn coins and can progress Objectives, according to EA.

Decide where the next coin goes

  1. Check your current starting lineup and substitutes. Replace a position that repeatedly causes problems instead of buying several players solely because their ratings look higher.
  2. Once your market is available, compare player prices and fit with your formation before buying. Hold a reserve for another position or changing your mind. Prices are player-driven and can move.
  3. Review the rewards and expiry of available Objectives. Some Season Objectives grant Season Points; check which rewards belong to Ultimate Team rather than assuming every reward is for your club.
  4. Before an SBC, review every selected player and the reward. Submitted items are permanently exchanged, including partial progress in FC 27 simplified SBCs; do not submit a player you still need.

Packs and Evolutions: read the terms

A pack is uncertain, so treat a purchase as entertainment rather than a guaranteed way to profit. Check whether each reward or player item is tradable before planning to sell it. For an Evolution, read eligibility, cost, expiry and objectives before committing a player; availability and rules depend on the current offer.

After a few matches, compare your weakest position again. An affordable targeted upgrade may help more than changing the whole squad, but no specific player or price is guaranteed to remain available.
