Quick answer

For a first Manager Career, start with a squad you recognize, choose one workable lineup and preserve enough budget for wages and a weak position. Play several matches before rebuilding the entire club. Your first objective is a team that can handle the schedule, not a perfect starting eleven that leaves no bench.

This plan covers Manager Career in EA SPORTS FC 27. Menu labels and available features can differ by platform; check the options shown in your save. Player prices and schedules depend on the club and settings.

Set up the save and inspect the squad

From Career Mode, select Manager Career. If offered the choice, use Original for a straightforward season or Live if you specifically want its challenges. Review the career settings and squad update prompt before creating the save. At the central hub, read the club objectives and task list: a transfer plan should support what your club asks of you.

Open the squad screen and choose a formation that fits your available players. Assign a starter and a credible replacement for each area of the pitch. Identify the position where an injury or a short turnaround would force you to play someone badly out of position; that is a better first transfer target than an expensive star in a position already covered.

Start with a tactical preset and test it in matches rather than changing every instruction at once. If the midfield is repeatedly bypassed or your forwards receive no support, adjust the relevant shape or roles, play again and compare.

Before a transfer, check the transfer budget and the ongoing wage commitment. Keep a reserve rather than spending everything on the fee: a deal still has to fit the club's finances and squad needs. If the listed player is too expensive, compare another suitable option or postpone the purchase until you know the shortfall better.

Look at the calendar before making a short-term decision. When matches are close together, rotate a few players you can replace without breaking the shape, and check the lineup before the next match. If only one position lacks cover, recruit for that gap rather than replacing several starters at once.

Give development a job

EA's career guide places coach management under Squad → Tactical Preset → Coach Management. Review the department you want to improve and available coaches before committing; compare their cost with your wage and transfer needs. Use the training and development options actually shown in your save, and check their progress rather than assuming a specific numerical boost.

For youth development, send a scout where it serves a position or club goal. Review reports before committing, promote gradually, and plan realistic playing time for graduates. A prospect who will never make your matchday squad is a longer-term choice, not an automatic fix for an immediate injury crisis.

Reassess after the first stretch

After a few matches, review the calendar, available players, results and objectives. Keep what works; make one change to an obvious problem and see whether it improves the next match. Before the transfer window closes, confirm your budget and whether the identified weak position still needs a signing.
