Start with a regular shot from a repeatable position. Look at the goalkeeper, choose the open part of the goal and vary your power gradually. A missed shot may come from angle, pressure, player attributes or aim as well as power; changing everything after one miss makes the cause harder to see.

Find your shot input
EA's route is Main Menu → Play → Learn to Play → Practice Arena. Pause and open Button Help for your own controls; in a match, Pause → Settings → Basic Controls also shows them. Platform, layout and remapping affect buttons, so use the prompt on your screen.
Build a reliable ordinary shot
- In Practice Arena choose one player, approach from a similar central position and take five regular shots. Aim at a chosen part of the goal; note where the goalkeeper stands.
- Repeat from roughly the same position with a little less power, then a little more. EA recommends less power near goal and more from farther away, but does not give a universal bar length.
- Repeat from an angle. If a defender would be directly in your shooting path in a match, take a touch or pass rather than forcing the same attempt.
- Change player only after the comparison; attributes and the player's body position can affect the result. Count shots on target as well as goals.
Match the finish to the situation
| Situation | Option to practise | What to watch |
|---|---|---|
| Clear ordinary chance | Regular shot | Aim and power for distance |
| Room to bend around a defender or keeper | Finesse shot | Space for the curve |
| Keeper has left the line | Chip shot | Distance and keeper position |
| Close or one-on-one, want a low finish | Low Driven | Aim and second shot input |
| Plenty of time and space | Power Shot | Longer wind-up allows a challenge |
For FC 27, EA says a Low Driven modifier is added to most shot types by pressing the shot input again after setting power. It cannot be added to a Chip Shot. Practise it separately and follow your own control layout; it is an option, not a guaranteed goal.
If shots repeatedly go straight at the goalkeeper, revisit your aim and the keeper's position before increasing power. If they miss the target, reduce variables: same player, same approach and one adjustment at a time. Then play a match to practise making the decision under pressure.
