Quick answer

An invitation failure, a queue restriction, network lag and low frame rate need different fixes. Start with the exact message and which players are affected.

Party or matchmaking

Ask everyone to restart Steam and Dota 2, then try a new invitation. If the party forms but cannot queue, read the game’s restriction for each member and selected mode: eligibility, account restrictions and mode requirements can differ. Try an eligible unranked mode if appropriate; do not try to evade a penalty. If everyone sees a coordinator error, check official Steam or Dota status announcements before changing settings.

Lag or low FPS?

Lag usually shows as delayed actions or disconnections; low FPS makes motion choppy even when the connection is stable. For network symptoms, test a wired connection if available, pause downloads and follow Steam’s network guide. Compare whether only one player or the whole party is affected.

For low FPS, lower resolution or graphics settings, close resource-heavy apps and update graphics drivers. In Steam Library, right-click Dota 2 → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files. Change one thing at a time and retest in the same situation.

If the issue persists, record the full error, mode, time, region and what changed, then contact Steam Support. Verification does not fix an account restriction or a server outage.
