Use unlocked Shadowstep to try a rooftop route, plan landing points and avoid assuming stealth means invisibility.
At night, Svartrau's rooftops can help you avoid some guards on the streets. First make sure Shadowstep is unlocked and usable in vampire form. It is a movement ability, not invisibility, and does not guarantee guards will overlook you nearby.
A route to practice
- At night go near Svartrau's West Gate and check your position and objective on the map. If the current quest or city state restricts entry or exit, read its prompt; do not assume every entrance is open.
- Look for reachable stone walls and rooftops beside the gate and note nearby guards. Aim your unlocked Shadowstep at a visible landing and try the nearby wall first. If the target is invalid, adjust position rather than jumping toward a distant spot you cannot see clearly.
- Move from the wall toward nearby roofs, progressing in short steps via reachable roof ridges or chimney areas. Pause to identify the next landing and a way back. The actual terrain and ability range are determined by the game screen.
- If your goal is Neustadt Tower, follow the rooftops toward it, check that the next position is reachable and attempt the ascent. At the top, use the scouting interaction when prompted. This route does not fit every quest; do not force a jump if blocked.
What if guards spot you?
Watch patrol positions before moving and avoid a close frontal approach. Height does not guarantee safety. If spotted, retreat toward a landing you already checked and prepare to fight or leave. Do not assume feeding near other guards will be silent; the target and story can be affected.
Ordinary human healing supplies do not replace vampire supplies at night, so check blood and usable abilities before leaving. Inputs depend on platform and custom controls; check the controls menu and practice somewhere safe first.
