Learn directional defense, stamina and unblockable attacks with a simple early-game rhythm.
Do not start by swinging nonstop. Face one enemy, watch the incoming direction, block or dodge, make a short counterattack and check your stamina. That rhythm is easier to learn than chasing perfect blocks immediately.
A simple fight sequence
- Try to face one enemy at a distance where you can see them. On difficulties with direction indicators, watch the shield marker on your opponent.
- Against a blockable attack, hold block and defend in the indicated direction. Once comfortable, practice matching the direction and timing just before impact for a Perfect Block, then counter in the brief opening.
- After one or two attacks, check stamina. Holding Omniblock consumes stamina; do not wait until it is empty before making room.
- Do not stand and block an unblockable attack. Watch the warning and dodge, then counter once safe. Against a group, make space instead of watching only your current target.
Controller or keyboard?
The game supports directional attacks and defense, but exact inputs depend on platform, control scheme and remapping. Check attack, block, direction and dodge in the controls menu, then practice with the on-screen tutorial. Controller direction input and keyboard-and-mouse controls differ; do not copy another platform's buttons blindly.
If four directions feel awkward, inspect the Omniblock and Omniattack assistance options and practice positioning and timing first. Omniblock costs stamina. Return to directional defense gradually if you want to learn it. Indicators also vary with difficulty.
Why did I get hit while blocking?
Check the direction and timing, whether the attack was unblockable, your remaining stamina and the position of other enemies. If settings or skills change how your defense works, follow the current in-game description. A normal block and a Perfect Block are different: survive the exchange first, then practice the counter timing.
