Quick answer

Buy Aura in First Sea, prepare the level, Saber prerequisite and money for Instinct, then practice both abilities.

Keep the two abilities separate: Aura helps physical attacks; Instinct helps you detect enemies and dodge some attacks. They come from different teachers and cost different amounts. For an earlier first step, get Aura in Frozen Village in First Sea.

Ability Teacher and location Community-listed requirement Use
Aura Ability Teacher in the Frozen Village cave; another teacher is at Magma Village 25,000 Beli Improves physical attack and defense and helps hit opponents with elemental immunity
Instinct Instinct Teacher in Upper Skylands Level 300, completed Saber Puzzle and defeated Saber Expert, 750,000 Beli Detects some enemies and automatically dodges some incoming attacks

Check the in-game prompt before paying, since conditions and prices can change. Both may be called types of Haki in community discussions; use the interface names Aura and Instinct to find the right teacher.

Learn Aura first

To toggle Aura, press J on PC by default or use the fist button on mobile.

Go to the cave containing the Ability Teacher in Frozen Village and talk to the teacher. Find Aura in the ability list and confirm the price before buying. Turn Aura on and fight using melee, sword or gun; ordinary quests provide a chance to practice and build its progression. It is not a universal button that boosts all fruit-skill damage, so check which attack you are actually using.

Prepare for Instinct

  1. Reach level 300, complete the Saber Puzzle in Jungle and defeat Saber Expert. Save 750,000 Beli.
  2. Go to the temple in the second area of Upper Skylands and find the Instinct Teacher. First Sea terrain can change with updates; use the current map and NPC name to confirm the location.
  3. Speak to the teacher and buy Instinct. If refused, recheck your level and Saber prerequisite before checking your money; having enough Beli alone does not prove every requirement is complete.
  4. Toggle it with E by default on PC or the eye button on mobile. Practice against a low-risk enemy and watch the dodge charges. Successful dodges earn Instinct experience, which the teacher can show you.

To reach Upper Skylands, use Air Jump from the regular Skylands to reach the entrance above. Look for the small opening marked by an arrow; in the second area, find the large temple at the back. The route may change with updates.

Instinct has limited dodge charges and some attacks can break it; it is not permanent invulnerability. While practicing, first confirm the enemy's attack actually triggers a dodge, then watch charges recover rather than standing still through every attack.
