Quick answer

Start with an assault rifle for open ground and a shotgun or SMG for close fights. When you find a marksman or sniper rifle, keep it only if you can still handle an enemy rushing your cover. Weapon availability and balance vary by mode and update.

Choose for the fight

Range Starting choice What to practice
Inside buildings Shotgun or SMG Aim at the doorway; retreat behind cover while reloading.
Across a street Assault rifle Fire short bursts and correct your aim between bursts.
Across open ground Marksman or sniper rifle Take a supported shot from cover; change position if exposed.

These are starting points, not fixed damage or distance rules. Garena describes UMP as a stable beginner SMG and Vector as a short-range option. Individual guns differ: some shotguns have alternate firing modes. Check the in-game description and current update notes.

Before collecting attachments, inspect your actual weapon’s allowed slots. Garena’s catalogue says MP40 accepts only a magazine; check the current in-game weapon description and mode before relying on that example. (source)

A five-minute practice routine

  1. In training, pick one rifle and one close-range weapon available there. Shoot a nearby target, then a farther one without changing sensitivity.
  2. Notice where your aim moves during sustained fire. Try shorter bursts and adjust your aim; do not assume every gun recoils identically.
  3. Move behind cover, reload, then reappear at a different angle. Practice switching weapons before an opponent reaches you.
  4. In a match, keep enough appropriate ammunition. If your long-range gun leaves you helpless at a doorway, swap it for a close-range option when you can.

Don't chase a supposed universal best gun: reliable hits with a familiar weapon beat a loadout you cannot control. If a weapon isn't available in your mode, pick a similar class and test it.
