Start with Free Fire if your phone struggles with space or heat. Try Free Fire MAX if it is available in your store and you want richer visuals. The deciding test is how each runs on your own device, not the name alone.

Compare before you commit
| What matters | Practical choice |
|---|---|
| Limited storage or older phone | Start with Free Fire and check its actual download size in your store. |
| Visual detail matters most | Try MAX, then check frame rate, heat and battery in a match. |
| Either version stutters | Lower graphics, close other apps and try again before switching. |
Availability, download size and compatible devices can change by region and update. Garena’s published Free Fire requirements date from 2021; they are a historical reference, not a promise for the current release or for MAX.
Switch without losing a guest account
- Open the version containing your progress and bind the guest account to a supported platform account in settings.
- Note your player name and UID. Keep the existing app and its data while testing.
- Install the other version from your official app store if available, and sign in with the same linked platform account. Check the player name and UID before playing.
- Compare a similar match in both versions. If the wrong account appears, stop and check the login method; don't delete the original app until you can access the right account.
Garena says guest accounts are not linked between Free Fire and Free Fire MAX, or across devices. Linking first is essential; availability and account behavior can depend on your region.
