Start and lane
Bring regeneration, a mana solution and vision as the match requires; coordinate ward purchases with the other support. Frostbite can hold a target while your lane partner follows up. Crystal Nova damages and slows an area, useful for a trade or retreat. Arcane Aura supports mana regeneration; inspect the current tooltip before choosing levels. A 7.41f public build shows Frostbite, Arcane Aura and Crystal Nova among its early choices, but take the skill your lane needs first rather than copying blindly.
Keep space from opponents who can jump you. Use a spell when your partner can respond, then step back; a root is not a guarantee of a kill. Check the enemy's detection before relying on invisibility.
Midgame survival
Boots help positioning. Consider Glimmer Cape against magical burst or Force Staff to reposition yourself or an ally; pick based on the enemy and your budget. Freezing Field is channeled: choose a position where enemies cannot easily interrupt you, and do not sacrifice a certain escape for a risky ultimate. Your skill and talent choices may change with patches; consult the in-game descriptions.
