In Grymforge, the forge needs one Mithral Ore and a mould for each item. There are only two ore deposits available, so check the mould’s item type before spending one. This guide contains a boss spoiler.

Find ore and a mould
From the Ancient Forge waypoint, one Mithral vein lies southwest across the rocks by the lava at approximately X:-645 Y:255. Another lies east of the path down to the forge, around X:-558 Y:278; magma mephits can ambush you. Break a vein with bludgeoning or force damage, then pick up the small ore it drops. For one concrete mould, the Splint Mould lies east of the waypoint near a skeleton at X:-594 Y:310. Check heavy armour proficiency before choosing it.
Start the forge
- Put Mithral Ore in the central crucible and the chosen mould in the mould chamber.
- Pull the forge lever to lower the platform. Open the lava valve after it reaches the lower level.
- The first valve use brings Grym. Defeat the guardian before finishing the operation safely.
- When the forge is usable, pull the lever to strike the mould and collect the item from the chamber. For another item, use the mould ejection lever and repeat with another ore.
Make Grym vulnerable
Grym is immune to damage until lava applies Superheated. Once heated, bludgeoning damage is especially effective. The guardian tends to pursue the last attacker marked as its target: use this to lure it toward the centre, keeping allies clear of the hammer. Pull the forge lever when heated Grym is on the central anvil; the hammer damages and knocks it down. It loses Superheated after the hammer, so reapply lava before the next damaging cycle.
Lava recedes and magma enemies can appear. Keep someone able to operate the valve, watch the party’s positions and do not assume every difficulty behaves identically.
