Quick answer

Set up a brewing stand and follow the two recipes, one ingredient at a time.

A brewing stand needs blaze powder as fuel, water bottles and ingredients. For both recipes below, make awkward potions with nether wart first. These steps are for ordinary drinkable potions in Java and Bedrock; splash and lingering durations differ.

Prepare

Bring a brewing stand, blaze powder, up to three water bottles, nether wart and either magma cream or a glistering melon slice. A brewing stand uses a blaze rod and three cobblestone; turn another blaze rod into powder for fuel. Fill glass bottles with water first. Put fuel in its slot, bottles at the bottom and one ingredient at a time in the upper slot; wait for each stage to finish.

Make the stand on a crafting table: put a blaze rod in the center and three cobblestone across the bottom row. For glistering melon, put a melon slice in the center and eight gold nuggets in the surrounding slots. Magma cream can be crafted from one slimeball and one blaze powder; check the recipe book for the ingredients you have.

Fire resistance

  1. Water bottles + nether wart → awkward potions.
  2. Awkward potions + magma cream → drinkable Fire Resistance, normally 3:00.
  3. Optional: add redstone dust to extend the drinkable potion to 8:00.

Check the label before entering danger. Fire resistance protects against fire and lava damage, not falls, suffocation or ordinary melee attacks. It doesn't solve your route home.

Healing

Water bottles + nether wart → awkward potions; then add a glistering melon slice, not a plain melon slice. The ordinary Healing potion instantly restores 4 health points (two hearts). Glowstone dust can strengthen it to Healing II, restoring 8 points (four hearts), capped by your maximum health. Instant healing has no eight-minute duration to extend.

If it doesn't brew

Check fuel, filled water bottles and the ingredient slot. Confirm the first stage really produced awkward potions before adding the effect ingredient. Make sure you used glistering melon and haven't switched to a splash or lingering potion. Preserve remaining ingredients while you inspect a bottle's name and effect.

The official Minecraft recipe article supports the basic process and magma cream; ingredient and duration details use the community Wiki. This guide has not been playtested.
