LoL vision basics: where to ward and when to sweep safely
On Summoner's Rift 5v5, place a ward to answer a specific question: “Can the enemy jungler approach this route?” or “Can we see the objective entrance?” A ward is useful only while it covers a relevant route and you can use the information.

Instead of copying the same six items every match, identify what is stopping your champion from doing their job. Against heavy healing, consider an item that applies Grievous Wounds; against resistance-stacking tanks, consider the penetration suited to your damage; against burst, consider survival before another damage purchase.
